Abstract

Diverse, abundant and well-preserved radiolarians were discovered from the chert of middle and upper members of the Gufeng Formation. 14 genera and 27 species are recognized and described. Of these, one genus (Quadrilobata) and one species (Quadrilobata ephippiomorpha) are new. Based on the distribution pattern of the radiolarians in the Gufeng Formation, two assemblage zones, namely, the Pseudoalbaillella fusiformis-P. longtanensis in the lower part and the Ruzhencevispongus uralicus Ass. in the upper part of studied Formation have been proposed. It is considered that the two zones fall into the middle and late Maokouan stage respectively, corresponding to middle and late Guadalupian. -from English summary
