Abstract
In the 2000 presidential race, Democrats accused Republicans of trying to give voters a bad feeling about Al Gore by flashing the world "RATS" in a commercial criticizing his prescription medicine plan. Joel Weinberger tested this kind of subliminal message to see if it might actually influence people's impression of a candidate.
