Recent advances in AI planning

Abstract

The recent developments that occurred for the past five years have significantly revolutionized the field of AI planning. Two approaches, GRAPHPLAN and stochastic SAT algorithms, have attracted much attention. In this report, these recent advances are explained and new directions are suggested for research. The planning problem and surveys freely downloadable planner implementations are also defined.
