Abstract

A reconfigurable digital receiver based on the k-means algorithm is proposed for phase-modulated subcarrier multiplexed (SCM) and quadrature amplitude-modulated single carrier, phase-modulated radio-over-fiber links. We report successful demodulation after 40 km single mode fiber transmission with three 50 Mbaud 8PSK SCM signals and a 312.5 Mbaud 16QAM single carrier. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
