Research directions for psychotherapy integration: A roundtable

by John C Norcross, Carol R Glass, Diane B Arnkoff, Michael J Lambert
Journal of Psychotherapy Integration (1993)

Abstract

Outlines the recommendations of 5 sets of prominent psychotherapists, active both in practice and research, on the conduct and conceptualization of empirical examinations of psychotherapy integration (PI). Based on their disparate methodological inclinations and theoretical orientations, the psychotherapists prepared responses to 4 questions concerning PI. These questions pertained to the constructive methods of investigating therapeutic commonalities, the value of research programs determining "treatments of choice," the alternatives to comparative (horse-race) designs, and an open-ended opportunity to propose additional research directions that would advance psychotherapy integration.
