Abstract

Mobile devices are widely owned. Research on mobile learning across educational domains has demonstrated benefits, which are organized into four threads in this research: characteristics, surveys, accessibility, and models. This study is a brief report on a pilot study which reviewed school-level mobile device use policies. The sample of convenience consisted of 25 public high schools from 4 public school districts. Policies were retrieved from publically-available school websites, and classified as allowed, selectively allowed, or prohibitive. Findings for the school-level and district-level policies and and five areas for further inquiry are briefly discussed.
