Abstract

私たちがMendeleyの開発に着手した理由は私たち自身が研究者だったからです人は博士課程の学生でした研究に必要な文献が無秩序かつ膨大にある中でそれらを効率よく整理したり文献間の関連性を見いだしたり自分が読んだ文献に対するアイデア考察などを忘れずにとっておくよい方法がないという問題を抱えていました例えば当時私が使用していた文献管理ツールではデータ入力を手作業で行わなければならず追跡管理も自分で行う必要があり全文検索もできませんでしたそこで私たちは音楽の世界におけるiTunesのようにPDFファイルをインポートするとすべての研究論文が自動的に整理され自分に必要な情報が抽出されるようなソフトウェアを学術研究の世界で作ることを考えましたMendeleyはこのような経緯アイデアから出発して試作品開発製品化に至ったわけです
