Abstract

Interviews were conducted with representatives from the following organizations: Citizens for a Better Environment, Sierra Club, League of Women Voters, Environmental Defense Fund, and California Assembly Office of Research. The overwhelming answer to the question of how safe was and is 'as safe as possible. ' There is general agreement that the steps to protect drinking water are protection of sources, increased detection methods of pollutants, and adequate monitoring and regulation.
