Abstract

A study of seedling growth and emergence above water level at 13C of 30 varieties identified cold tolerant japonica and indica varieties. Hungarian 1 Dunghanshali, Kajakshala, Kulu and CR245-1 exhibited the highest root and shoot growth at low temperature. San Pao, Swat 1, Tao-mao-tao, Stejaree 45, Tailan-ping wei-ju 1, YRL, Fujisaka 5, Dunghanshali and Kulu showed the best recovery and percentage seedling survival after return to normal conditions.
