Abstract

A review of semiconductor technology is presented. The explosion of new devices in digital bipolar and MOS processes, refinement of linear circuitry, activity in semicustom logic devices, with special emphasis on the proliferation of logic gate arrays are described. New families of integrated circuits with very large scale integration of bipolar gates, and other logic gates are being introduced. The military and other very high speed applications are fostering superfast data and signal processors and memories in gallium arsenide. The capabilities of all the semiconductor devices and new processes and fabrication techniques are also reviewed.
