Abstract

The lecture series includes 5 papers describing the recent developments in the field of practical design optimization methods. An overview is given of the state-of-the-art in optimization technology, currently available mathematical methods which are being successfully applied to structural engineering are described, and the role of optimization models as applied in current analysis and optimization methods is explained.
