Abstract

We evaluate the channel capacity of MIMO systems whose receiver uses Antenna Pattern Modulation (APM) to develop multiple received signal components by a single receive antenna unit. We assume the antenna pattern which varies with sum of sinusoidal waveforms with different frequencies. The APM generates diversity branches in the frequency domain. We evaluate the channel capacity of the proposed MIMO systems for the case of two transmit antennas. The capacity of the proposed system increases in increasing the number of arrived paths because of the path diversity gain.
