Abstract

The purpose of this study was to extract the condition of fulfilling feeling in adjustment guidance class for school refusal students. A survey was conducted of 360 junior high school students who attended 47 adjustment guidance classes in the Kanto region. Next, two kinds of scales were constructed. Factor analysis revealed four domains with 18 items in the Fulfillment Scale of the Life Adjustment Guidance Class; Relationship with Instructors, Relationship with Peers, Lessons and Activities. It also revealed two domains with six items in the Fulfillment Scale for Partial School Attendance from Adjustment Guidance Class; School Lessons and Relationship with Teachers. Reliability analysis showed high coefficients of Cronbach's and test-retest correlation. There were on the average high and moderately high correlations between the scale of self-image in society (Aoto, 2005) and these two scales. Thus, the partial validity of the two scales was shown. The most contributing factor for school refusal students to attend the adjustment guidance class was Relation with Peers. The contributing factors for attending school were Relation with Peers, School Lessons and Relationship with Teachers. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved) (journal abstract)
