Abstract

Some new monomers with Schiff-base structures and bromine final atoms were obtained by combining condensation reactions of dialdehydes or diamines with p-bromoaniline or p-bromobenzaldehyde. The corresponding polymers were synthesized by Ni- or Pd-catalyzed polycondensation reactions in combination with 2,5-dihexylbenzene-1,4-diboronic acid. The new structures were characterized by spectral methods (1H NMR, IR, UV-vis) as well as by thermal analyses (TGA, DSC). © 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
