Abstract

The article focuses on a study which aims at the extraction of downwelling irradiance from the archives recorded in the Campbell-Stokes sunshine recorder. The Campbell-Stokes sunshine recorder was developed by physicist George Stokes in 1880. It describes the design of a consumer-grade image scanner that can be used in the extraction process of archives from the Campbell-Stokes sunshine recorder.
