Abstract

The article presents research on physical education teaching in elementary schools in New South Wales, Australia. Elementary school teachers were examined to determine how their curriculum preferences affected the teaching of physical education as compared to other areas of the school curriculum. The survey found that while teachers considered physical education to be a valuable part of the curriculum, the majority preferred to teach other subjects besides physical education and preferred to leave the teaching of it to specialists.
