Abstract
According to the disquotational theory of truth, attaching is true' to the quotation of a sentence has the same effect as would be obtained by erasing the quotation marks. Two arguments are put forth showing that this view is false. The first argument assumes that there are truth-value gaps. The second argument does not contain this assumption.
