Abstract

The adoption of higher standards by manufacturers in the Indian textile industry are advocated in order for them to meet the standards required to compete effectively in the global market. It is argued that modern management techniques, including the concept of total quality management, need to be disseminated throughout the Indian industry and at all levels. The theory of total quality management is explained.
