Abstract

Few would disagree with the need for training in order to become a skilled psychotherapist. However, much of the training that novice therapists receive is in the form of supervision provided by psychotherapists with little or no training in the craft of supervision. It is now recognized that psychotherapy skills are not identical to the skills needed for psychotherapy supervision. Nevertheless, there are few programs that provide training in how to supervise. The authors describe a doctoral level supervision traineeship program aimed at meeting this need. © 1988 by The Haworth Press, Inc. All rights reserved.
