Abstract
This experimental work deals with the two phase titration of commercial anionic surfactants with Hyamine 1622 and three indicators: Mixed Indicator, Bromocresol Green Indicator and Phenol Red Indicator. Linear alkylbenzene sodium sulphonate (LAS), secondary alkane sodium sulphonate (SAS) and alpha methylester sodium sulphonate (MES) were titrated. The combination of the three indicators enables one to distinguish between mono, polysulphonates, disalt as well as soap content. The results obtained led to a new hypothesis about the surfactants compositions and have filled some lack of information on surfactant analysis.
