Abstract

This conference proceedings contains 217 papers on ultrafast optical phenomena and their applications to the fields of physics, chemistry, biology and electronics. Topics discussed include the generation of short pulses from solid state lasers, femtosecond time-resolved spectroscopy of magneto-excitons, high-order harmonic generation in strong laser fields, quantum electrodynamics of beam/particle collisions in a linear accelerator, femtosecond time-resolved photodissociation of triiodide ions, femtosecond time-resolved ionization spectroscopy of polyatomic molecules, time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy of nuclear vibrational wave packets, ultrafast dynamics of solid fullerene, spectroscopic applications of phase-locked femtosecond pulses, ultrafast nonlinear spectroscopy with chirped optical pulses, a subpicosecond optical sampling system, femtosecond time-gated imaging of translucent objects, femtosecond waveform processing via spectral holography, two-photon interference measurement of ultrafast laser pulses, ultrafast pulses from a mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser, femtosecond pulses from Nd:glass lasers, femtosecond synchronous pumping of dye lasers, ultrashort pulse generation from high-power arrays, X rays generated by femtosecond laser-produced plasmas, femtosecond thermionic emission, femtosecond desorption of molecular oxygen, and ultrafast reversible phase changes for optical recording.
