Digital libraries offer convenient access to large volumes of text, but finding the information that is relevant for a given information need is hard. The workshops of the Initiative for the Evaluation of XML retrieval (INEX) provide a forum for testing the effectiveness of retrieval strategies. In this paper, we present the current version of our search engine that was used for INEX 2006: Like at INEX 2005, our search engine exploits structural patterns - in particular, automatic detection of titles - in the retrieval results to find the appropriate results among overlapping elements. This year, we examine how we can change this method to work better with the Wikipedia collection, which is significantly larger than the IEEE collection used in previous years. We show that our optimizations both retain the retrieval quality and reduce retrieval time significantly. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
