Abstract

The impact of having a leg ulcer is well-documented in terms of the pain, restrictions and psychosocial difficulties that patients experience. However, the current focus on quality of life as a patient reported outcome measure overlooks the importance of the individual's well-being. In this article, we argue that a shift in focus from quality of life to well-being will contribute to the more proactive patient centred approach to care to which we should all aspire in contemporary care settings. © 2014 MA Health care ltd.
