This chapter describes the relationship between war and human rights. It examines direct assaults on civilians by "conventional" means, ethnic cleansing, and extrajudicial killings; direct assaults on civilians caused by indiscriminate weapons, indirect assaults on civilian populations, violations of medical neutrality, war, and intellectual corruption (justifying violations); and international laws to protect human rights during war.
