Abstract
During the academic year 2008, during the discipline History and Epistemology of Physics, from the Physics course in the Brazilian Lutheran University, we did an experiment to revert the trend of students merely copying and pasting (download) the already existing material on the Internet when producing written materials to adding (upload) new material to the collective human knowledge recorded on Wikipedia. In this work, we intend to verify if the conception of Science as a human activity would have been understood by students and would be refl ected in their contributions to Wikipedia. To this end, we performed a content analysis for their contributions, on the assumption that the students would show that assimilation by the presence of information that unveil the human side of biographees, in addition to the biographical positive facts, most commonly present in biographical sketches at Wikipedia.
