Abstract

Often wind observations are sparse or lacking and the reanalysis data from Global Circulation Models (GCM) have a too coarse resolution for the estimation of the wind climate and extreme winds. Data from the regional climate model REMO were examined for this purpose. The mean wind parameters and extreme wind indices were calculated and compared to results from NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data as well as observations.
