Job Purpose

The Postgraduate Student Recruitment Manager will formulate and implement strategies to increase the recruitment of UK nationals to postgraduate degree programmes through the development, implementation, management and appraisal of the University’s main recruitment events and printed promotional material.

The post holder will also play an active role in, and contribute to, the development and implementation of activities that recruit postgraduate EU students. This work will involve extensive travel within the UK and Europe and will necessitate working outside normal office hours and at weekends. The post holder must be able to operate effectively and autonomously, and be capable of effectively managing large projects, budgets, and members of staff/student helpers.

 

Person Specification

• A good first degree or equivalent (postgraduate qualification desirable)
• Proven and effective experience in a student recruitment, marketing or external relations role
• Proven project management skills
• Customer relationship management skills
• Excellent leadership and motivational skills
• Excellent communication skills written and oral
• Demonstrable problem solving skills when under pressure
• Creative thinker and self-motivating, with the ability to use initiative
• Knowledge of Higher Education and its environment
• An appreciation of current issues within Higher Education, especially those concerned with postgraduates, recruitment and admissions
• Evidence of marketing analysis skills and the ability to interpret data
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills
• Willingness to travel (UK and Overseas)
• Proven event management skills, with the ability to organise large scale events
• Proven copywriting skills for online and offline marketing materials for a range of stakeholders
• Proven and effective experience of customer relationship management software (in a HE environment)
• An understanding of the qualifications framework in UK universities
