A highly motivated, pro-active and HE-experienced legal contracts professional is sought to join the University’s research contracts team as a senior level contracts specialist. The individual must be capable of working fully independently, and as part of a highly professional and busy team drafting, reviewing, and negotiating, contracts that are often complex or strategically important to the University and involving a wide range of stakeholders. A good understanding of the HE sector is essential – particularly from a research-centric perspective - as is a controlled ‘can do’ approach, while a broad range of business skills and experience drawn from working in relevant roles across the public and private sector is highly desirable to better inform negotiations. These skills will extend to the legal aspects and experience of contracting for the commercialising of Intellectual Property; patent process (and other mechanisms for protection of IP); and technology/IP licensing. Important attributes of the successful candidate will be confidence and ability to communicate effectively, together with a highly-tuned understanding of how to achieve satisfactory conclusions in an efficient, cooperative, and timely manner. Some knowledge of the regulatory and statutory requirements pertaining to research ethics and governance would be an advantage.
