Responsible for the coordination of orthopedic clinic and surgery schedules. This includes scheduling appointments and surgery, communicating with clients and local veterinarians, as well as patient admissions & discharges when needed.The applicant should be very comfortable administering sedation for orthopedic exams, radiographic imaging, joint taps, and bandage changes as this is a major part of the technician’s role in the orthopedic clinic. Additional duties include preparing patients for surgery (blood draws, IV catheter placement, clipping, scrubbing), assisting in surgery when needed (so familiarity with surgical instruments is preferred), and positioning patients for radiographic imaging prior to and after surgical procedures (as needed with the use of the mobile radiology unit).The applicant will work closely with doctors, nurses, students, and clients, so excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary.


An Associate’s Degree or two year college equivalent and minimum of 5 years experience in Veterinary Medicine. Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician. Experience with anesthesia preferred, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task while paying close attention to detail, thrive under a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding work environment. Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment, while demonstrating a high level of initiative and motivation. Excellent organizational skills are essential.
