**Group Manager and Senior Scientist, Probiotics, Cultures and Food Protection (Job Number: 018342W-01)**

This role leads a team of research scientists and technicians focused on the creation of new knowledge and development of new technologies
for DuPont's Nutrition & Health, Technology & Innovation Cultures
Technology team. The knowledge and
technologies developed by the incumbent and their team are those that will
transform the global competitiveness of our current businesses. It will also enable sustainable, competitive
advantages, to meet both short-term and long-term needs for the Cultures
business.

To lead research programs on microorganisms for the development of
starter cultures for the food industry.
This position will work most closely within the local and global Culture
Development R&D team and cross-functionally with technical teams involved in
customer applications and manufacturing.
The individual is expected to be able to function both independently and
within a team environment. The person
will provide the technical expertise and leadership for the research and
development of new strains, methods, and basic knowledge in support of business
orientations.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

The essential functions of this position
include, but are not limited to, the following:

+ Inconjunction with the Global Culture and Food Protection T&I Leader,develops research program objectives, long-range and strategic plans. Manages research planning efforts spanningmultiple and diverse technological programs.Interacts with professionals from other functional groups. Interactswith technical leaders to define and resolve program specific issues.

+ Supervisesand directs scientists and technicians; monitors and evaluates progress andresults and determines improvements or changes needed to achieve goals. Manages research and development in Culturestechnology areas.

+ Executes experimental research plans in accordance with technical andbusiness priorities and objectives.

+ Identifies, assesses and develops new scientific concepts and/ortechnologies to provides solutions to expresses business needs.

+ Maintains a broad-based external knowledge of research and emergingtechnologies sourced globally, across relevant fields of study. Buildsand maintains scientific credibility and visibility in support of thebusiness. Builds and manages internal and externalcollaborations/partnerships in the discovery, R&D and commercialization of newproducts/technologies.

+ In conjunction with Cultures and Food Protection Technology Leadershipteam and Principal Scientists, establishes the agenda, priorities and work plans;manages project teams - including planning project activities, tasks and endresults, like work breakdown estimated, responsibilities, and schedules.Approves project plans, as appropriate and gains approval for changes in scope,budget or time prior to execution of work.

+ Translates program strategies and project objectives into personalobjectives. Manages the portfolio of projects to deliver on time and onbudget.

+ Ensure appropriate level of interaction and direction with key internalstakeholders and partners, including business, sales, Innovation DecisionBoards, internal R&D platforms Regulatory, Legal, Safety & Quality,Project Management Office, HR and other relevant groups.

+ Manages projects and laboratories in accordance with all SHE policiesand programs and quality assurance standards

+ Providesproper feedback and recognition of teamwork and team accomplishments on aregular basis. Administers humanresources programs as they are related to assigned personnel, includingemployee recruitment, retention and engagement, Code of Conduct, compensation,training and development, equal employment opportunity, performance management,employee record documentation and conduct regular staff meetings.

+ Translatesprogram strategies and project objectives into COTs. Manages portfolio of projects to deliver ontime and on budget.

**Qualifications**

+ PhDDegree in Microbiology, Biology or related field, and a **_minimum_** of 10 years of experienceis required.

+ Demonstrated direct management of staff and demonstrated projectmanagement skills with **_minimum_** of 6 years of experiencerequired.

+ Researchexperience with lactic acid bacteria and food fermentation, or related field, possiblyin an industrial environment.

+ Knowledge and experience in molecular biology(including genomics, transcriptomics, genetic engineering) and microbial physiology and metabolism.

+ Demonstrateddirect personnel management, large team animation, and project management skills.

+ Abilityto manage projects and programs, including complex, multidisciplinary activities;capacity to prioritize, manage and deliver against multiple assignments.

+ Excellenttechnical writing skills and ability to produce clear, accurate reports andpresentations to the Technology and business stakeholders.

+ Excellentinterpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability tomotivate and guide the efforts of others to successful project completion aswell as successfully manage communication internally and externally.

+ Experience in leading throughinfluence

+ Commitment to and skilled in leading,coaching and developing others; fundamental understanding and insights intowhat motivates employees; building high-performance teams and promote internalcollaboration
