**Job Summary**

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has an opening for a microbiologist to use stable isotope flux measurements to explore microbial metabolism. The project is a collaborative effort between teams active in different disciplines: microbiology, analytical chemistry and metabolic engineering.

In this position, the ideal candidate will perform isotope labeling experiments and Mass Spectrometry (MS) analysis to identify and characterize novel metabolic pathways in different microbial systems that convert renewable resources into fuels and chemicals. You will be expected to integrate with expert collaborators in transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and metabolic engineering at NREL. The candidate will also design and execute laboratory experiments, analyze quantitative data, write and communicate results to the scientific community

**Required Education, Experience, and Skills**

Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Strong computational skills on programming with R, MATLAB, Python _etc._ are highly desirable, including experience with multivariate statistical interpretation of large datasets

+ Previous research experience on Kinetic Flux Profiling (KFP) and modelling is highly desirable

+ Previous research experience on analyzing -omics and other complex multivariate data is a plus

+ High-performance liquid chromatography experience, including instrument maintenance and troubleshooting is a plus.
