The Singapore-ETH Centre was established as a joint initiative between ETH Zurich - the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and Singapore's National Research Foundation (NRF), as part of the NRF's CREATE campus. The centre serves as an intellectual hub for research, scholarship, entrepreneurship, postgraduate and postdoctoral training. The centre currently runs two research programmes, the Future Cities Laboratory (FCL) , followed by Future Resilient Systems (FRS). It is home to a community of over 100 PhD, postdoctoral and Professorial researchers working on diverse themes related to sustainable cities and resilient infrastructure systems. In the course of their work, researchers actively collaborate with universities, research institutes, industry, and government agencies with the aim of offering practical solutions. We are currently looking for a

Project Leader / Digital Unterground

to be filled by January 1, 2018 or upon arrangement. Accurate, georeferenced 3D digital maps of the underground comprising utilities, spaces and components will help planners to understand and take into account the dense and complex networks. The maps will also be essential for the management and operation of utility networks ensuring transparency, legal compliance, efficiency, and resilience of these systems. However, it is not yet clear how to obtain sufficient and consistently accurate information of these utility networks based on existing data and ground-penetrating mobile mapping measurements. The project aims to develop a roadmap for the 3D mapping of existing and future utility networks in Singapore. The roadmap will lead to guidelines on how to digitize the underground networks and how to permanently maintain up-to-date maps including all relevant geometric, legal and functional aspects of the underground infrastructure. The digital records of the 3D underground networks will have to be stored in a consolidated 3D GIS system at Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and to be shared with relevant stakeholders. The project will be carried out in very close cooperation with SLA and will be part of the Future Cities Laboratory (FCL) program, which undertakes cutting-edge research in disciplines ranging from material science, engineering and environmental technologies to geomatics, communications technology and architecture. The FCL aims to research and develop solutions and guidelines directed towards the sustainable development of buildings, districts and regions.

The project leader will manage the project in Singapore. He or she will work very closely with Singapore Land Authority, other project relevant agencies, industrial and academic collaborators. The project leader has to ensure good communication/relations between the stakeholders and coordinate the project team in Singapore and Zurich. To develop a roadmap for 3D Utility Mapping and lead the research assistant and technical specialist will be the main tasks. Work location is in Singapore (NUS University Town) and the position has a duration of one year.

The candidate should have a Master's or PhD degree in Geomatics or an equivalent relevant background, strong project management skills and experience in running projects with multiple stakeholder as well as experience in working with governmental agencies. He/she should have solid knowledge of geomatics and mapping technologies, be a team player, open minded, with excellent communication skills and speak and write English very well; German skills are a plus.

We look forward to receiving your application with complete CV, degree certificates, academic transcript, a letter of motivation and intentions, and the names of two referees are requested.
