A world leading speciality chemical manufacturing business is currently seeking a Synthetic Organic Chemist to join their team in Oxford on a permanent basis. Based within their high performance team, you will play a key role in leading improvements to materials focused to their speciality chemical division. You will work closely with project scientists across the technology group with contract synthesis partners to deliver components directly to market.
*Manage, direct and execute design and synthesis projects.
*Make a strong contribution to material design.
*Drive & deliver simple, robust scientific hypothesis lead material design solutions.
*Efficiently prepare and characterise materials to agreed deadlines.
*Deliver next step recommendations based on robust data analysis.
*Work transparently - communicating progress & results effectively to audiences of all levels.
*Provide direction and coaching where necessary to fellow laboratory chemists.
*Prioritise work schedule & deliver results aligned with our portfolio/strategic ambition.
*A degree qualification in Chemistry or closely related field of study.
*You must possess a wealth of experience working in a Synthetic Organic laboratory environment.
*Proven track record of preparing materials from gram to 20Kg scales.
*Ability to quickly adapt pace & work priorities to accommodate new information/customer needs.
*Proven track record of problem solving abilities- incl. working across multiple scientific disciplines.
*Excellent communication, oral, written (assimilate, process & disseminate info) & planning skills.
*Proven track record of strong supervision and coaching laboratory based individuals.
*Remains current on literature & new technological developments.
