We are looking for a Senior Research Associate to work within the Drug Discover Team of a company based just outside Cambridge.

Responsibilities

* Laboratory based and related work 80-90% of time, under moderate supervision
* Ensure experiments and data management activities result in robust, high quality data to inform decision making
* Analyse and critically interpret experimental data to draw proper conclusions
* Carry out a diverse range of assays and analyses to identify issues and implement necessary optimisations
* Generate high quality results within the expected timelines. Research should be consistent and thorough
* Communicate data and results to line manager and project teams in the form of summary reports / presentations with interpretation for project meetings and discussions
* Contribute to the maintenance of reagents and general lab facilities
* Actively participate in the execution of immune cell assays for drug candidate evaluation
* Assist in performing cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemical techniques including T cell culture, lymphocyte activation and cytotoxicity assays, multi-parameter flow cytometry, ELISA, viral transduction, mammalian cell transfection
* Preparation of blood samples and isolating of PBMC
* Design and execute biological assays for the routine characterisation of antibodies, fragments and bispecific mAb2 molecules and perform troubleshooting as required

Requirements

* BSc or MSc in Biological Sciences
* Excellent track record of relevant hands-on, lab-based experience
* Mammalian cell culture and common associated assays
* Functional cell-based assays with a focus on proliferation and activation.
* Molecular biology (DNA manipulation, cloning, primer design, sequence alignment)
* A fast learner and highly motivated to improve and advance in competency and responsibilities

The following would be beneficial:

* Knowledge in immunology will be an advantage
* Experience with human blood culture and associated assays
* Flow cytometry - experimental design and analysis
* Immunoassay execution and design (T cell culture, isolation and stimulation of lymphocyte populations)
* Familiar with immunological techniques and concepts concerning cancer biology and immuno-oncology.
* Experience with in vitro and in vivo trials, assay development and execution
* Understanding of the process of therapeutic antibody generation and the development of antibodies as therapeutic drugs
* Organised with strong attention to detail and proactive in team discussions
* Enthusiasm to learn and optimise new methods
* Strong communication skills and proven ability to work well in teams
