De Montfort University (DMU) is an ambitious, truly globally-minded institution with a relentless focus on delivering high quality teaching and research. A culturally rich university with a strong commitment to the public good, it strives to maintain a stimulating, innovative and inclusive environment where staff and students are able to thrive.

Faculty / Directorate

An opportunity has arisen to join the rapidly growing Cyber Technology Institute at DMU as a Software System Engineer. The role will be embedded in the Cyber Technology Institute's Cyber Security Centre. The CTI is strongly supported by major industries such as Airbus Group, Deloitte, Rolls-Royce and BT as well as a recognised Airbus Group Centre of Excellence for SCADA Cyber Security Research.

Role

You will support a number of current research development projects, particularly in the area of Digital Twinning, and help mature these technologies for commercial activities.

As much of the work is research led, the applicant will be encouraged to contribute to journal papers and other outreach activities. The applicant will also be expected to support the teaching provision of the CTI, working with other members of staff as required to develop new and existing material in addition to providing technical assistance where necessary.

Ideal Candidate

You will be expected to work with both hardware and software as required, individually and as part of a wider team encompassing both students and academics. Therefore, the applicant must be comfortable working both under direction and using their own initiative and be able to demonstrate this through previous experience, ideally within a research & development environment.

To discuss the post further, applicants can contact Dr Richard Smith, Head of the Cyber Security Centre (on 0116 2078501 or rgs@dmu.ac.uk).
