    This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

    The Defense Health Agency, National Capital Region Medical Directorate (NCR-MD) is the future of Military Medicine- a partnership in World Class Medical Healthcare. The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Dilorenzo Clinic and the Joint Pathology Center, provide world class medical services to the nation's service members and their families.

    About the Position:
    This position is located at the DiLorenzo Clinic in the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and is responsible for the management and supervision of a behavioral health service that employs approximately 5 masters and doctoral level mental health providers as well as support staff at two locations. Provides psychiatric consultation and management for primary care and a patient population of approximately 7,600 eligible beneficiaries.
    The clinic hours are 700 - 1600 Mon. - Fri. One week of on-call duty per quarter at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital and an equitable portion of holiday duty at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital is required.

    Responsibilities

    As a Supervisory Physician (Psychiatry) you serve as Chief, Defense Stress Management, DiLorenzo TRICARE Health Clinic performing routine, non-routine, and emergency adult evaluations for a variety of emotional, psychological, and behavioral disorders as described in DSM-V to other psychiatric physicians and mental health providers and consultation with other health care providers assigned to or working at the Pentagon or elsewhere in the National Capital Region. Including, but not limited to, diagnostic evaluations, medication management, psychology service, substance abuse evaluations and treatment, and consultative support to other clinics, Military Treatment Facilities (MTF), Commands and community agencies. Attend training necessary for both medical and leadership responsibilities. Performs physical and neurological evaluation, and requests appropriate laboratory, EKG, imaging, and psychological evaluations. Knows and employs a variety of treatment modalities, including pharmacotherapy; individual and group therapy; individual, family, and group psychotherapy; and behavioral and cognitive behavioral therapy. Prepares and maintains outpatient medical record, documentation in accordance with service and clinic SOPs. As the Chief has the overall responsibility of resources and services. Accepts or rejects completed work, advises or explains changes in work requirements, methods, and procedures. Answers technical questions about the work done. Rates employees based upon pre-established work standards. Informs employees regarding policies and procedures. Hears and resolves employee concerns.

    Qualifications
    In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (external link) ; Association of American Medical Colleges (external link) ; Liaison Committee on Medical Education (external link) ; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association (external link) , or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts.)
    Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (external link) , a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. (Note: You MUST submit a copy of your current, active, valid, unrestricted license/certification.) Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. Graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada.
    Residency: 5 years of residency training in Psychiatry or equivalent experience and training in the specialty of Psychiatry. (For example a 4 year Psychiatry residency plus one year of equivalent experience) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
