Position Summary:

IntelliScript's IT organization has been a key part of IntelliScript's past success and is critical to our future, as we seek to double our business over the next five years. The IT organization currently has an opening for a Junior Database Administrator to manage the business data infrastructure for IntelliScript's industry-leading software projects.

The Junior DBA is a vital part of a growing team, working in an innovative and collaborative environment. Working closely with the Infrastructure Manager, DBA team and development teams, the Junior DBA will streamline SQL deployment processes, optimize performance of stored procedures and maintain the health of the database servers. The Junior DBA will be instrumental in working with development team resources for the maintenance of robust, scalable database structures and queries. This person will provide maintenance and management support for SQL Server environments (2008 to 2016) and assist with future upgrades to approved SQL Server releases.

The right person for our team has 3+ years of experience developing and implementing database solutions to support business requirements; resolving technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation; writing and fixing code; testing and implementing database backups, restores and upgrades.

- Maintain database server health across all environments

- Maintain and report on growth trending of all databases forecasting for future needs

- Maintain and report on queries needing optimization and formulate solutions

- Maintain, manage and report on SQL backups across enterprise

- Assist Infrastructure and/or IT staff with projects as needed

- Assist business power users on optimizing queries for reporting purposes

- Assist in deploying new TSQL code deployments in conjunction with development team code deployments

- Continually look for automation opportunities and organize a plan to feed future projects

- Maintain Database log shipping environment to keep systems up to date

Professional Qualifications:

- 3+ years of Microsoft SQL Server experience (2008 and higher) as a Database Administrator

- High school diploma or GED in addition to some secondary education or continued learning / training

- Able to speak knowledgably about SQL concepts and SQL server technologies

- Solid grasp of database design concepts and techniques

- Past experience working with software architects on database system design

- Solid documentation skills

- Skilled with TSQL, relational database design and PowerShell scripting

- Comfortable communicating / translating specs and business needs between stakeholders and technical teams

- Excellent communication skills, in person and through phone/email

- Able to learn new concepts and adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment

- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and in teams, with or without supervision

- Strong work ethic: pitches in wherever needed

- Collaborative by nature: seeks out the input and needs of others, shares insights and opportunities

- Able to communicate ideas through visual means (sketching, white boarding, Visio or other diagramming software)

Preferred (Not Required):

- A completed Associate's or Bachelor's degree

- Ability to understand and refactor complex legacy software

- Experience in environments subject to HIPAA and/or PCI regulations

- Professional experience with project lifecycle planning such as Agile/Scrum

- Experience using Team Foundation Server (TFS) or Visual Studio Team System


- Candidate must be willing to work onsite at Brookfield, WI office 5 days a week.

- Travel expenses for applicants and/or relocation expenses for applicant offered the position will not be paid by Milliman.

The salary for this position is commensurate with skills and experience.
