PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To provide speech language assessment, identification

and placement for students referred for speech language

services and to provide appropriate intervention services

to eligible students.

To maintain speech and language special education records

and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification :

Master's degree in speech pathology(communication disorders), except for

those that have been "grandfathered" or licensed by the State with their

Bachelor's degree in speech therapy.

Valid Texas license in speech pathology, or valid Texas Teaching Certificate

in speech therapy.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skill in the area

of speech pathology including assessment, diagnosis, and

intervention techniques.

Must have ability to use the accepted test and measurements

to assess communication disorders and conditions

Must have knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and

rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions

Must have ability and willingness to work with students with disabilities

Must have excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Must have ability to problem solve effectively

Must have ability to interpret data

Must have ability to instruct and manage student behavior

Work Conditions:

Mental Demands:

Must be able to learn and apply new skills and knowledge

related to assessment of and intervention in the areas of

speech language therapy.

Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written),

interpret policy, procedures, student test data and functional

skills related to speech therapy.

Physical demands:

Must be adaptable and flexible

Must be able to do medium physical work effort exerting up

to 50 pounds of force

Must be able to use the computer

Must be able to travel between schools as necessary

Regular attendance is an essential function

Minimum Experience :

Must have completed required practicum to receive Texas speech

therapy license (or TEA Certificate if issued prior to 9/01/94).
