    • Sterilize dental instruments and/or equipment.
    • Train less experience staff on all aspects of sterilization in accordance with the American National Standards Institute and Dental Command.
    • Assist Dentist in providing treatment to patients.
    • Conduct periodic inventory of dental supplies.
    • Assemble trays and arrange instruments according to policy.
    • Compare sterilization test results to standard parameters (e.g. time, temperature and pressure).

    • This position has a mandatory annual seasonal influenza vaccination requirement.
    • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
    • Employee must possess and maintain an American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate of training.
    • Must be certified as a radiographer and have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in 42 CFR Part 75.
    • Ear protection may be required.
    • Incumbent must successfully complete a pre-employment and annual Physical Examinations.
    • Incumbent must submit to a background investigation.

    Qualifications

    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes: (1) assisting with inspecting dental supplies and instruments; (2) assisting in testing operation equipment for effective sterilization; (3) preparing for dental X-Ray procedures; (4) maintaining dental treatment records; and (5) charting patient treatment needs and requirements on procedures performed.

    Education: I have successfully completed a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position such as: Dental Hygiene, Dental Science, Pre-Dentistry degrees. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

    Combining Experience and Education: I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have some education leading to a bachelor's degree but less than required in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

    Selective Placement Factor: You must have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and be certified as radiographers in their field.
