Health Sciences Administration (HSA) and supported units have developed a d Services Center combining efforts already in practice to provide a cohesive, effective and customer centric model. HSA d Services Center has an outstanding opportunity for four Computer Support Technician 2 positions.



The primary function is to provide technical support in the day-to-day operations of microcomputers, terminals, workstations, and other related computing resources in departments and/or labs.



Must demonstrate ability to use packaged application software such as use of software features, explaining menu options, file recovery and directory maintenance, and how to use the hardware components such as printers, computers, and other peripherals, and solving simple to routine problems such as log-on errors, cable checking and replacement, board swapping, resolving incorrect software-to-hardware configurations, and performing basic diagnostic routines to d Assist computer users in the implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and use of computer hardware and software packages.



Under general supervision, assist users in problem solving and assist in implementing and maintaining microcomputer applications in stand-alone or small local area network environments. Perform preliminary diagnosis of problems, resolving simple problems such as log-on errors, printer malfunctions, cable checking, directory problems, and incorrect software-to-hardware configurations; contact appropriate personnel for resolution of complex problems; provide instruction to users in program operation and documentation usage.



RESPONSIBILITIES:



- Assist computer users in the general use of a variety of software packages;



- Identify and resolve problems relating to the operation/function of software packages;



- Assist management, technical staff and users in evaluating systems capabilities and maintenance requirements;



- Diagnose problems by using basic diagnostic software and utility tools and by troubleshooting through a process of elimination in determining where a problem is occurring;



- Instruct users in program operation and use of appropriate documentation; write user documentation of common problems and resolutions to assist users in solving problems;



- Assist in running, maintaining and documenting programs developed by others;



- Draft source document formats and operation procedures for users; instruct user personnel in system operating procedures and requirements;



- Maintain inventories of computer equipment and network diagrams;



- May design and implement macros for packaged software systems such as a macro to load spreadsheets and perform processes to produce defined reports;



- May assist faculty with teaching aids, materials and equipment associated with classroom instruction;



- May install and configure newly acquired PC's and various software packages;



- May assist in the preparation of reports;



- May direct the work of others;



- Perform related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

One year of experience as a Computer Support Technician I OR equivalent education/experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:



Employment is contingent upon successful completion of health assessment at the UW's Employee HealthClinic. The health assessment may include but is not limited to tuberculosis clearance, measlesclearance, serum banking, immunizations such as tetanus and vaccinia, physical exam and/or review of work

health history, x-rays, and/or assessment to wear positive or negative respiratory protective equipment.These health assessments will be repeated periodically during work assignment.



This position may be required to work with and take specific precautions against and/or be immunizedagainst potentially infectious agents. Specific precautions may include wearing respirators and/orprotective clothing. Employee is personally responsible for following health & safety and security

policies/procedures, and staying current on all required training. Blood borne pathogen training and compliance with all WaNPRC and UW security policies is also mandatory.
