**Job Description**

We are looking for a Backend Developer who is passionate about pushing technologies to the limits, and who will work with our team of talented engineers to design, build, and consume restful web services and analytics for the next generation of consumer-facing healthcare devices and applications. Our front-ends include native iOS and Android applications as well as multiple browser interfaces.

Working in a collaborative development environment, the Senior Backend Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting a robust backend consumed by mobile and web applications used by real patients, taking into consideration performance, privacy, and security. The candidate will work with other developers on architectural and technical decisions and with product managers to help define functionality. The candidate will also be responsible for implementing and following development processes that comply with medical regulations while enabling the team to work efficiently.


**Education Required:** Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience is required.

**Education Preferred:** A MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

**Experience Required:** 4+ years software development experience with a proven robust portfolio required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

**Specialized or Technical Knowledge Licenses, Certifications needed:** Experience with Python, Django, PostgreSQL, caching, queueing.

Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, Route 53, ELB, and others). Experience providing JSON-based RESTful web services. Experience writing unit and functional tests. Experience integrating with 3rd party web services. Experience with scalability / reliability /security. Experience with Linux server administration. An ability to set up and use a version control system such as Git. An ability to work autonomously and in a team with limited direct supervision. An ability to understand and contribute to functional requirements. An ability to clearly document features and technical and infrastructure requirements.

**Company/Industry Related Knowledge:** Proven experience developing enterprise products for the pharmaceutical industry is a plus. Knowledge of the respiratory space is a plus.
