The Harvard Medical School is not able to provide visa sponsorship for this positionDepartment:NeurobiologyPre-Employment Screening:Criminal, Education, IdentitySchedule:35 hrs/wkJob Function:Information Technology Duties & Responsibilities:Our group in the Department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School is looking for a software engineer/data scientist capable of developing algorithms and software pipelines for processing and analysis of high-throughput electron microscopy (EM) data for neural circuit reconstruction. The main projects include:

* design and implement algorithms for pre-processing of serial-section transmission EM (ssTEM) data for computer-vision analysis

* train machine learning-based artificial neural networks for segmentation and synapse identification in ssTEM data

* design and implement tools for efficient, multi-user, proofreading and editing of automated segmentation results

* design and deploy pipelines for high-throughput implementation of these algorithms and tools in ssTEM data

* design and implement meta-analyses of the resulting biological neural connectivity matrices

* devise tools for visualization of biological neural connectivity matrices

* contribute to team discussions regarding biological interpretations of connectivity data

* advise and train junior team members in the implementation and use of software tools

The successful candidate will be highly-motivated and must be able to lead projects independently.
