Major Technical are working in partnership with a leading Aerospace manufacturer in the Blackburn area, they are looking to add a Dynamic and driven Purchasing manager to assist in taking the business to the next level. To be considered for the role the candidate will have the following skills and experience for the Job in Hand Reporting to: Supply Chain Manager Summary of Role: Responsible for the Purchasing function, including but not limited to Total Acquisition Cost for both direct and indirect products and services, inventory management, supplier relationship management and management of a small buying team. Principal responsibilities: * Forecast levels of demand for services and products. * Maintaining accurate stock levels to meet the needs of the business. * Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality. * Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers to achieve the correct balance of materials required. * Control material flow into manufacturing while managing and communicating shortages and creating plans with the supply base to alleviate those future shortages. * Maintain and develop relationships with suppliers and new potential suppliers to ensure the best in terms of value, delivery and quality. * Negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided; * Control contract files and use them as reference when required. * Forecast price trends and their impact on the business. * Develop and execute a purchasing strategy. * Produce reports and statistics as required. * Evaluate bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors. * Ensure suppliers are aware of business objectives. * Mentor train and supervise the work of other members of staff. The Person: * A natural communicator with a confident and mature approach, able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy * Good commercial awareness * Ability to make considered decisions with flair and accuracy * Able to cope with pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines * Ability to adapt to different supplier needs and develop and maintain successful working supplier relationships * A natural negotiator * A consummate networker * Well organised administrator and adept with IT, inc. ERP/MRP
