Role Description
CPL in conjunction with Pfizer is seeking a Laboratory Technologist, reporting to the KTL Leader at the Ringaskiddy API site, Cork, Ireland.

The successful candidate will work as an integral member of the Technology Team in the global API-Technology Group to deliver on key KTL activities from day to day operations through to developing and implementing future technologies to support the API network ensuring maximum value and impact is obtained from the activities executed in the KTL. The Technologist will ensure that all activities associated with Development and Registration campaigns are completed to a high standard. The Technologist will ensure that the KTL delivers through its expert team and high specification equipment, a significant value enhancement for all the products, technologies and activities it operates. Technologists will develop and execute manufacturing technologies, and will be committed to continuous improvement, technical up-skilling and personal development in a performance-driven environment. Technologists will be required to travel periodically to observe new technologies; attend, contribute to and present at off-site meetings as required.

Main Areas of Responsibility:
  • Generation, completion and approval of documentation such as Batch Record Books, Cleaning Batch Records, change requests associated with demonstration and registration campaigns
  • Working shift patterns to meet business needs
  • Understanding and use of manufacturing control systems to execute processing steps
  • Responsible for the issuing of safety permits within the facility
  • Perform risk assessments on equipment setups
  • Ensure safety and quality compliance is maintained to ensure that KTL goals are met and lead RFT initiatives when required
  • Timely closeout of all safety CAPA’s
  • Ensuring that housekeeping standards in the facility are maintained to an audit-ready standard at all times
  • Continually challenging technical solutions to ensure solutions are innovative and that they reflect industry best practice
  • Initiate and complete when required Method 1 investigations
  • Participation in Co-Design leading to the design of the optimal API manufacturing process, including the application of innovative technologies including continuous processes
  • Focusing and working on future technologies that will ensure improvements are realised across the Pfizer API network
  • Ensuring RFT execution of SU Standard Work Plan activities to support both development and registration campaigns in the KTL
  • Monitoring process performance, collection of data, trending and generation of technical reports
  • Continuous improvement of the workflows associated with the KTL facility’s operation through consistent application of 6 Sigma methodology and CI toolkits

Qualifications (Training, Education & Prior Experience):

The successful candidates should be educated to a degree level in an appropriate science or engineering discipline or have relevant experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

In addition candidates will have a proven record of achievement in the areas of interpersonal and communication abilities, organizational skills and innovative thinking.

Skills, Competencies and Experience required

The ideal candidate should have:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in related field in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, across the main areas of responsibility of the role
  • The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work on their own initiative and within teams
  • Performance at a consistent level of excellence in a consistently dynamic operating environment and demonstrate flexibility to get the job done
  • Excellent technical, problem-solving, communication and organizational skills
