**Title: Payroll Analyst**

**Location: Detroit, MI**

Perform business processfunctions necessary for processing salary/ hourly payroll & timekeeping\. Applicantshould be comfortable exercising an elevated level of independent judgment inmatters of a difficult and involved nature\.

**Roles & Responsibilities:**

+ Ensure timely andaccurate payrolls are prepared and delivered
+ Safeguard payroll iscompliant with Federal and State tax regulations
+ Assist in managing 3rdpartycontracts
+ Maintain a cohesive workrelationship between multiple 3rdparty vendors
+ Initiate and make sureaccurate and timely system implementation of payroll process changes
+ Network and collaboratewith colleagues, third parties, and other GM departments to achievedesired business results
+ Keep up\-to\-date ontechnical aspects of payroll processes to identify and anticipate impacts onsystems and processes
+ Proactively identifyprocess improvement opportunities and lead change
+ Extract, verify, analyzeand present data for management decision making
+ Provide internal and/orexternal financial analysis and decision support
+ Make certain compliancewith internal controls requirements
+ Lead and/or assist withspecial projects and global initiatives as required

**Skills & Abilities:**

+ Thorough knowledge ofPayroll & Timekeeping systems and processes
+ Knowledge of US payrolltaxes and remittance
+ Ability to work underpressure and balance many projects at one time
+ Highly developedcomputer skills especially Microsoft Excel
+ Ability to lead smallproject teams and work independently
+ Highly developed writtenand verbal communication skills
+ Strong interpersonal andteam building skills
+ Possess a strongunderstanding of corporate/unit personnel policies and labor agreements

**Educational/Experience Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's degree inBusiness or Accounting required
+ PriorPayroll/Timekeeping experience required
+ Solid accountingbackground \(SAP knowledge preferred\)
+ Strong knowledge ofBanking/Taxes and Garnishment regulations
+ CPP certificationpreferred
+ Understanding of GMbenefits including SUB pay,401K plans, S&A etc\.
