The Politics and International Relations team within the School of Area Studies, History, Politics and Literature (SASHPL) has an exciting vacancy for a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations. This post presents a fantastic opportunity to work within a team of internationally-recognised colleagues in a TEF Gold university delivering the highest levels of student experience. The University of Portsmouth offers an outstanding place to work with career support and mentoring, a vibrant research culture, generous leave entitlement, regular social events, dedicated support for research development and CPD training opportunities.

The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate modules across our Politics and International Relations provision with a specific focus on content relating to Russian politics and the politics of the Former Soviet Union. As a Senior Lecturer, the appointee will play a key role in department affairs and offer leadership where required. Duties will involve, amongst others, writing and delivering lectures and seminars, supervising undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, offering pastoral care and careers advice to students, undertaking administration roles commensurate with a Senior Lecturer-grade post, assisting with student recruitment and engaging with extracurricular events (such as hosting guest speakers, outreach events, workshops, etc.) The successful candidate will have a proven track record in research and active plans for further research projects that will lead to REF publications, bids for external funding and research and innovation projects that can generate impact beyond academia.

At the University of Portsmouth, we value diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community, and in particular from under-represented groups.
