Duties and Responsibilities

UCL's Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatic Engineering is home to a world-class Environmental Engineering team with multidisciplinary strengths in resource efficiency, including water, materials/waste and energy; public health; sustainable infrastructure; international development and coastal engineering.

Working closely with the AGILE project team located at London Business School, Cambridge and Strathclyde universities, you will have responsibility for designing, developing, testing and validating the agent based model (ABM) component of the integrated AGILE toolset. You will also characterize distributed energy asset owners on the ABM, critical for the processing of smart contracts on the Blockchain and the creation of portfolios for digital aggregators, and so you will manage large data sets.

This position is available for 18 months in the first instance.

Key Requirements

You should have a first degree in a field relevant to complexity science or complex engineering systems such as computer science, engineering, applied mathematics (or equivalent) plus a PhD in a relevant area. Previous experience in the renewable energy sector essential.

Experience of inter-disciplinary research is desirable, and you will have excellent communication skills including experience of academic writing.
