Position Summary



The Critical Languages Program seeks a Pashto Tutor to conduct non-credit tutorial sessions for the Air Force Linguists. The candidate must be a native speaker of the Pashto language and able to work professionally with small group tutorial sessions. Content focus may include Pashto language grammar, pronunciation, writing, reading, speaking, and listening skill development to prepare for the Defense Language Proficiency Test.

Duties & Responsibilities



- Schedule tutorial sessions and submit to Senior Office Assistant

- Design lesson plans based on student(s) needs and expectations

- Conduct tutorial sessions in the use/ practice of the Pashto language

- Provide communication and feedback to student(s) throughout the scheduled tutoring sessions

- Maintain/update tutorial session calendar

- Maintain communication with the Critical Languages Program staff



Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities



- Ability to work a flexible schedule

- Ability to maintain professional standards



Minimum Qualifications



- Native or near-native fluency in Pashto as well as proficiency in English.

- Teaching and/or tutoring experience of a second-language



- High school diploma; AND, Two years of tutoring experience in area of assigned discipline; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications



- MA in TESL/Applied Linguistics or a Master's degree in a related field

- Experience in teaching the Pashto language at the post-secondary level

- PhD in teaching a second/foreign language or a related field
