**Min Qualifications**

A degree in medicine (D.O. or M.D.) with a clinical Board certification of Board eligibility required. At least one year of clinical experience in dive medicine is required. Must be able to obtain a Texas State Medical License within 9 months of hire date.

**Salary Range**

$140,000 to $190,000- commensurate with experience

**Specific Job Related Duties**

* Provide medical support at the NASA-JSC clinics .
* Oversee all medical operations and provide direct daily medical support at the NBL, a 40 ft. deep, 6.2 million gallon pool which is used by NASA to train astronauts for space walks.
* Provide direct support to the NBL Medical Director.
* Provide on-station medical monitoring during all astronaut training held at the NBL.
* Conduct daily pre-and post-test physical examinations on personnel entering the water to include astronaut crew members and a cadre of 50+ working divers
* Provide on-station medical monitoring during all astronaut training held at the NBL.
* Provide initial diagnosis and treatment of diving and work related minor injuries and illnesses.
* Provide emergency treatment and stabilization (ACLS) of facility personnel until transported to hospital.
* Ensure hyperbaric chamber remains in proper operating condition and the chamber crew is trained and certified.
* Provide monthly safety day medical lectures to the facility staff.
* Support vacuum chamber human testing by providing preflight briefings to chamber subjects and test team members; conducting pre- and post-test physical examinations on test subjects, rescue technicians and lock observers; and providing on -station medical monitoring during all suited subject tests.
* Oversee the physiological training program that utilizes a hypobaric (altitude) chamber to educate personnel on the hazards of altered pressure environments. This includes reviewing medical qualifications of all participants and providing on -station medical monitoring for all chamber operations.
* Provide medical information/knowledge/expertise to Multipurpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV/Orion Program and Human Health and Performance Directorate (HH&P;) boards (MIOCB, SA, FACB, SCOCCB, FRCB, etc.)
* Develop position papers, presentation and/or requirements interpretations for Health Human & Performance issues related to vehicle design activities
* Communicate decisions to HH&P; management and subject matter experts.
* Actively participate in program document and design reviews. Participation includes the development and distribution of summaries of design review along with action items for SME's to respond to.
* Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to high standard of safety and be willing to comply with all safety laws and all the Company's safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
* Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures.
* Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company.
* Responsible for completing all assigned training.

**Preferred License/Certificate**

* Board certification in Hyperbaric/Undersea medicine is highly desired

**Preferred Work Experience**

* Experience with human health and performance requirements interpretations for Health Human & Performance issues rin the aircraft cockpit design process.
* Experience with computer systems is important.
* Operational military experience, developing requirements for cockpit design, or human system integration is highly desired.
