The University of Portsmouth achieved the highest 'Gold' rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) the UK government's first assessment of teaching excellence in higher education. The School of Mechanical and Design Engineering has a track record of sustained excellence in teaching and research as evidenced by the consistently very high student satisfaction scores in the National Student Survey, the excellent employability record of our graduates, and the results of the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF2014) submission. We offer a full range of degree programmes across mechanical, manufacturing, product and engineering design.

The School is seeking to appoint a motivated and committed individual to a Lecturer position to support the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum in the School and our distance learning programmes. This is an exciting new role which reflects growth in undergraduate numbers and the intention to enhance the knowledge of our students in engineering design. We are particularly interested in applicants who can teach our students about assemblies and solid modelling. The ability and interest in teaching engineering principles would be welcome as well. The post holder will contribute to modules in mechanical engineering and product design as well as supervise final year projects.

The successful post holder will be an excellent team player, able to encourage, motivate and inspire students about their area of specialism. We welcome applications from early career or more established researchers who can contribute to one of our two research groups, Bio Engineering and Advanced Materials and Manufacturing. The potential to undertake innovation and knowledge transfer activities is an advantage.
